The Seoul International Drama Awards were held on September 10 and hosted by KBS, awarding the winners from a pool of 172 entries from 43 countries.
Sort of an odd list of winners, I thought. (I mean, Chuno alongside The Last Days of Lehman Brothers alongside NCIS?) Not that there’s anything wrong with any of those projects, but who’d've thought they’d ever make it to the same awards show. Random.
But no matter: On to the winners!

Celebrating Chuno’s multiple wins
Jang Hyuk (Chuno) picked up an acting award, alongside Lee Byung-heon, who didn’t attend. Both dramas were huge and probably merit the “Hallyu” award, but they’re also KBS shows. Coincidence? In other news: cornrows AND a pompadour AND a ponytail, Jang Hyuk?
I almost didn’t recognize Jang’s presenting companion as Oh Ji-eun from Three Brothers with that haircut. Can’t say I love the dress — her sleeves have sleeves! (and they make me think of armpit hair, never an association you want when going for glamour) — but the fit is flattering on her.
Choi Su-jong (Jeon Woo) and announcer Choi Yoon-young presided as hosts:
Lee Seung-gi (My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho) won a netizen popularity award, which is no surprise given that the whole freakin’ country is enamored of this textbook example of an 엄친아, or the boy next door that all mothers love.
He won alongside Ruby Lin and Charmaine Sheh:
Lee In-hye (Comrades) has picked up the nickname of 엄친딸 over the past few years, which is the female counterpart and means, loosely, the girl next door.
I don’t think Lee Chae-young (Comrades) is going to be picking up that nickname anytime soon, however, wearing a shiny tablecloth held up by seatbelts. And are those… detachable hip pockets? Holsters? Wings?
Kim Ji-hoon (Joseon X-Files) should always have facial hair and look slightly rumply, as though he already had his fun at the pre-party and is just here to smirk and smolder. Smirk (and smolder) away!
He presented with T-ara’s Eun-jung (Coffee House), making a pretty snazzy-looking couple, I must say. I don’t think her shoes are so flattering, nor is the way the voluminous skirts hit at the widest part of the hip, but she looks fresh and lovely and I like the halter. Plus, she’s got some serious arm candy.
Han Ji-min (Cain and Abel) presents with the Seoul mayor, Oh Se-hoon. I know she’s working two fashion trends — animal print and an asymmetrical neckline — but in essence it gives her the appearance of a sophisticated cavewoman. Like Pebbles (without her Bam Bam) all grown up and at a fancy party.
But nobody, and I mean nobody, commits greater atrocities against fashion than Cha Ye-ryun (Invincible Lee Pyeong-gang). You may have to zoom in and really take a good look to let this monstrosity sink it. Neck-up, she’s wearing a Jackie O collar, inexplicably torn from its home on a comfy winter pea coat to rest on a sleeveless summer shift dress with flower applique and a blocky black hemline. I almost — almost — love the shoes, except they look like they got tangled up in a fight with the aforementioned pea coat. I’m not sure which one emerged the winner.
Ji Hyun-woo, Cha’s Invincible Lee Pyong-gang co-star, presented with Nam Gyu-ri (Life Is Beautiful):
Gu Eun-ae is a model who is probably best known for dating Ha Jung-woo. In comparison to some of the oddities at the event, her swirly two-tone pink confection is pretty and inoffensive.

I’ve been watching Comrades and as to Lee Chae-young there was a scene where she’s lying back on a bed (waiting for surgery) and even then I thought “She must be wearing an industrial-strength bra to be able to point to magnentic North.” Now I see this picture and wonder what kind of industrial-strength tape she’s using. Good golly Miss Molly!

Yeah, it does look rather unnatural. The dress looks extremely risky. One accidental trip, or unexpected wind, and the dress goes flying off.
i don’t know….maybe koreans now have lose their traditional culture….few years ago when i was watching some korean dramas…..it was all good….the kiss scene was not too much…..very nice and romantic..but now…..i could not even watch them more….too much sexuality and very inappropriate to watch….and there even a sex scene(which i mean a REALLY sex scene)….and the attire were TOTALLY trash….
i DO miss autumn in my heart,winter sonata days…..rather than changing partner and something white night.
and focusing on this article,i found that Lee Chae-young was one of the example of bad korean influence.

I think it’s safe to say Cha Ye-ryun’s eye-tearing collar is the winner. I wonder why they dress or (in Jang Hyuk’s case) style their hair that way? Is it done intentionally to grab attention/publicity, or is it simply a human error? Needless to say, they look ridiculous and far from appealing. I love Jang Hyuk, but God that’s one messed up hairstyle.

Also, NCIS is one of my favorite shoes, been following it since High School (starting from the season) where Special Liaison Agent Ziva David (now a probie) began appearing. I know some of the negative things people say about the show, but I love it to death. So NCIS appearing on my favorite blog site (okay, so it’s the only blog site I actually go to, but we’ll ignore that) is also an AWESOME addition to my Friday.
i’m with you there! i absolutely love NCIS and the show and the whole cast. though i must admit, i really miss having kate todd/sasha alexander on the show. i have no objections to my favorite blog having my favorite show listed on it!

Anyways, although I’ve seen a lot of the episodes with Kate, I have to say that bringing in Ziva was one of the best things the show did (that, and the selection of the whole main crew…. and the new Director whome I’ve dubbed Director Toothpick). Ziva and Tony have more chemistry in my opinion. X)

Oh no, Lee Chae-young! It’s a big no from me. On one hand, I think she looks hot but trashy in that so so dress. I respect her personal choice. But IMO, the dress isn’t proper for the event, she must be very brave to wear it. I’m quite an open minded person but I still can be quite reserved when it comes to public appearance in Asia.

I never would have imagined Lee Chae Young in that kind of a dress. LOL, then again I never imagined her to have that kind of body. She always looked like the school marm to me but looks can be decieving. Anyways, I’m not a big fan of the dress either. The girl needs to wear something classier.
